Dr. Becci Akin

Board Member

Dr. Becci Akin is Professor and PhD Program Director at University of Kansas School of Social Welfare. Her research focuses on understanding successful implementation and effective and equitable interventions for families impacted by the child welfare system. Dr. Akin works with public agencies and private, community-based organizations on numerous efforts to develop, implement, and evaluate interventions that aim to transform systems and improve outcomes for children, families, and communities. She has served as principal/co-principal investigator on multiple federally funded projects, including initiatives for trauma-informed services, racial equity approaches, and strengths-oriented interventions. Dr. Akin’s passion is collaborating with others to work for racial and social justice. She publishes and presents nationally and internationally on her work.
